Episode 94: Dr. Sandor Gardos: Herpes, HPV, and Penis Power
Dr. Sandor Gardos is one of the most savvy Sex Therapists I have come across in a long time. What makes him unique is that he is an academic by nature offering to us the history of human sexuality as well as the most current information we need to make conscious sexual choices.
In this episode, I answer questions from a Just for Women listener who wrote in with concerns about Herpes. Sandor not only gives us solid information about Herpes, he also covers HPV, the HPV vaccination and what we need to know about a mostly fictious and often misdiagnosed new ailment for women: Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder.
Tune in and learn all you need to know about Herpes and how NOT to be labeled with a sexual disorder because you are a woman and get turned on in a completely different way than men! Watch out - this episode might make you angry!!
- The design of a penis is to ebb and flow, not stay hard for hours on end
- The #1 issue for sex therapists is "desire discrepancy" - partners having different sexual preferences and needs
- Women's sexual desire is much different than men's (go figure!)
- Herpes does not have to be a sex-squashing issue
- Blood tests alone will not definitively tell you if you have Herpes
This interview is packed with GREAT information - tune in now!more.
Episode 93: Tripp Lanier: The Man's Perspective on Being Pregnant
In this episode I welcome back Tripp Lanier, host of The New Man, another popular show on the Personal Life Media Network.
A lot has changed since we last spoke with Tripp and now he is preparing to be a Daddy! In true form, Tripp's quick wit keeps me on my toes as he shares with us how he deals with going into "Hunter Mode", his Video Diary (how cute!) and the importance of considering mens feelings.
Tripp shares with us with some great points to consider about men during this very tender time for both parents-to-be:
1) Men need "Man Time" to blow off steam with other men.
2) Have compassion: Men get scared too.
3) Let him be your Partner as well as Caregiver - all caregiver is no fun for him.
4) He is dealing with all unfinished "Dad issues."
5) Build relationship with the baby together now.
Don't miss this jovial and informative look into the mind of a man who is preparing to be a Dad!more.
Episode 91: Alissa Kriteman on Venting and Getting Real
In PART ONE of this TWO PART series - I am VENTING! We all need a good vent every once and awhile - so I took the opportunity to vent as well as talk about some useful communication tools you can use when you really would rather someone fall off the face of the earth than have to deal with them. heehee.
Did you know that 7% of what we people hear is content and 93% is how it is delivered? Think about that for a minute....
Learn how you can use the "With hold Process" on your own instead of having a neutral friend help you. Sometimes it helps just to vent it out all on our own!
In this interview I also talk about how to distinguish unconscious parts from your true essence. This kind of work is helpful in determining who is speaking in any given moment where you feel you are not coming from your heart and love.
I also cover the first two authentic communication keys from Dr. Susan Campbell's book "Getting Real: 7 Keys to Authentic Communication:
1) Own your experience

In this part 2 series, I continue to answer questions from the audience. This interview is broken down into components parts to address a question from a listener who is curious about Responsibility and Fault.
I make it clear that we are never responsible for anyone else's actions or behavior, but really can be responsible for what is arising in the relationship.
We address issues such as:
Do women drive men to do what they do?
What is showing up in your space?
How to heal from "energy leaks" in the relationship?
I share what came out of a conversation with an ex-boyfriend who used porn to distract himself from facing emotional discomfort in the relationship.

Episode 88: Alissa Kriteman on Transforming Regret and Resentment
I really appreciate when listeners write in to share their stories or ask for guidance on particular situations regarding dating, relationships and sex. Therefore, I make a point to have those questions and concerns answered on the show.
In this episode, it is me who offers insight to audience members on how to communicate truth with love using the "Acknowledgment Sandwich." This is a fantastic communication technique that allows you to be fully expressed or make requests while also honoring the person you are speaking to. Tune in and hear how it can work for you in your life!
In the second segment I offer my insight to an audience member who asks for support in "how to transform resentment and anger." Here I offer a powerful tool you can use with another person to clear congested emotion called the "Withhold Session."
When you do a Withhold Session, you allow yourself to blow off steam and get to the heart of what it is you want to say. Mostly our bottled up emotions are getting in the way of the love we desire to express. This technique will help you move through high emotion and get back to calm, centered, clarity.

Episode 82: Jon Moter, Family Constellation Facilitator: Healing the Family
Jon Moter works with individuals and couples to help uncover links, ties and devotions to family members that we may not be aware exist. Not only are we unaware they exist, many times they are holding us back from the life we are here to live. When we have unconscious allegiances to family members past or present, we deny ourselves the fullness of the life that is possible for us.
Tune in as Jon walks us through the background of Family Constellation work and how it works to help people discover and heal these concealed blocks to our personal empowerment.more.
Episode 81: Newt Bailey, Communications Expert: How to Tell Him What You Need
In this interview I learned more about how much I try to run my own agenda, forget my needs and don't really listen when I am in conversations (especially when I am triggered by my lover) than I have talking with any other communications expert. Newt Bailey, Master Communications Expert, Mediator, Facilitator and Coach brings a whole new light to communication. It is so radically loving it is almost weird.
What Newt offers is that we actually give a care about other people and what they have to say, what they need, what they are trying to express to us instead of us trying to get our own point across. He teaches us how to NEVER give up on our own needs and be a stand that EVERYONE gets what they need in a conversation. He brings a rare sense of calm and peace to conversing that I have not experienced before that gives me a renewed sense of hope that I can talk with even my FAMILY and have the experience be one of love and sustained connection.
What Newt helps us see is that we really can stay in love, remain in connection AND be boldly transparent with people if we are willing, and what an extraordinary experience that can provide. He offers a communication process that will take practice:
1) Observe the situation without judgment
2) Tap into what you are feeling
3) Communicate any needs you have
4) Make a request or ask the person how they feel about what you have juts shared.
I have to say, using this process is changing my life! Not only am I more in touch with myself and what *I* need, I am also conscious of what the other person might be needing that they might not even be aware of. Learning to communicate in this way feels very mature and powerful and totally VULNERABLE. Try it on!more.

Episode 77: Reid Mihalko: Hot Fun with Your Clothes ON!
Reid Mihalko is so much fun and full of great, practical information, I just had to have him back on the show. I am so happy to know there are people out there who dedicate their lives to making the subject of sex a healthy, normal, approachable conversation, and Reid is a true pioneer.

In this modern day of go, go, go it is so nice to get some tips on how to slow down and enjoy more. Reid gives us some HOT tips on how to connect without using our HANDS as well as how to be a great "Cock Tease"!
And of course - we are reminded that men are inspired through acknowledgment and praise. During these trying economic times, it is important to remind the men out there that they are doing a great job (even if they are struggling). We can take the initiative as empowered women, to offer love and appreciation to the men in our lives for doing all they do to make us happy in the best ways they know how. Amen.more.
Episode 76: Sheryl Paul - How to Be a Conscious Bride: Do Your Work During the Engagement Process!
Sheryl Paul, M.A. is a pioneer in talking about what few in our society will even touch - the Death that comes with getting married. In her MUST READ book, The Conscious Bride, Sheryl takes our hand and takes us on a tour of all the frightening feelings, emotions and situations that mostly likely will surface as we prepare to shed our Single Woman shell and enter into the world of "wife."
We talk about the grieving process that needs to happen and what happens if it doesn't - a little discussed phenomenon called "post-bridal depression" that grips many women who do not "do their work" during the engagement period.
Sheryl helps us understand the normalcy and importance of feeling the anger, fear, doubt, loss and isolation - all NORMAL and healthy feelings - that naturally arise during the wedding planning process.
In this interview we learn about the 3 phases of transition: Separation, In Between Zone, and Rebirth/New Beginning. Sheryl shows us quite clearly what happens if we do not honor each phase fully and what to do if we find ourselves unhappily stuck in any part of the transition process.
We talk about what men are going through during the engagement process and the conditioning women have to deal with that men do not. We end with Sheryl recommending a powerful exercise that supports the bride-to-be in fully releasing her past in order to face her new future as a conscious, empowered wife.
This is a DO NOT MISS interview for any woman planning a wedding or anyone who knows a woman planning her wedding!more.
Episode 75: Satyen Raja - What is True Feminine Power?
Satyen Raja is a force of love you definitely want to tap into! He speaks boldly and passionately to all of us who sometimes struggle with fully embodying our feminine essence and power. In this interview Satyen directs most, if not ALL of his attention and information into the hearts of women to help awaken in us the power we possess to light up our relationships and the world in general!
Satyen asks us to build a special, small but sensual alter dedicated to honoring not only the "divine feminine" in us but also to the "divine masculine" inside the man in our lives or the man we seek to be in relationship with. A true inspiration to engage with Satyen talks about anger in both men and women, why it is there (usually) and how to free it up. He describes for us the three levels of relating - Prison, Parole and Paradise and how to move from one to the next.
He mentions that women grow through PRAISE and men grow through CHALLENGE - that is one to keep in mind when we desire for something to shift in our relating with the opposite sex! Satyen is extremely generous and wants everyone to benefit from his transformational workshops - therefore he is giving Just for Women listeners FREE tickets to his introductory course: Sex, Passion and Enlightenment! Just go to www.warriorsage.com and register using the Code: Just For Women Show
If you are unable to attend one of his workshops - he will give you a discount on any course you want to take. Again just tell them you heard about this offer on Just for Women.
This is an interview - you SERIOUSLY want to listen to and experience Satyen Raja's passion for yourself!more.
Episode 74: Dr. Michelle Gannon - How to Powerfully Prepare for Marriage!
This month we are focused on Getting Married!
Dr. Michelle Gannon gives us important guidelines to pay attention to as we explore what it really takes to get ready for marriage. We hear about the Four Stages of Relationship Erosion (criticism, contempt, stonewalling, and defensiveness) and how you can remedy the situation if you find yourself there.
We talk about the Five Love Languages and the importance of paying attention to loving your partner in the way they want to be loved. The Five Love Languages are Words of Appreciation, Gifts, Acts of Service, Physical Touch or Quality Time. My personal favorites are gifts and physical touch!
We end with the Power of Forgiveness as a critical piece to healing the past and moving on to create the magical marriage you know is possible! Michelle leaves us with her mantra: "A Strong Me feeds a Strong We" as well as her recommendation to keep a gratitude journal to keep reminding yourself of the beauty and abundance in your life. Enjoy!more.
Episode 73: Kathy Caprino, Women's Work-Life Expert and Career Coach: Dealing with a Professional Crisis
It is ever so refreshing to interview an empowered woman like Kathy Caprino, MA who is not afraid to talk about energy work, meditation and “going within” to find answers. In this interview we discuss some of the “12 Hidden Crises of Professional Women” outlined in her new book Breakdown, Breakthrough as well as how we can identify and heal them. It seems more and more we are no longer looking outside of ourselves for important information to the burning questions we have in our hearts, and this interview continues to usher in this shift in how women are growing in love, self care, self reliance and using our own internal guidance systems to live our most authentic life in this somewhat challenging day and age. A must listen to for ANY woman facing difficult times right now – there is a way out and up! Tune in and bring your support sisters!more.
Episode 72: Garrison Cohen, CoFounder of AMP Media: Into the Minds of Men
Have you ever wanted a guy friend with whom you could ask any question about men? You know, to get the REAL inside scoop on what is happening IN the minds of men? Well, this week I interview one of the men in MY life whom I turn to when I have questions, concerns and issues with men that I just DO NOT understand.
Meet Garrison Cohen, Co-Founder of The Authentic Man Program Media. Garrison has been studying man/woman dynamics for quite a while and has a vested interest in sharing with people how to have thriving relationships. What I love about this episode is Garrison's ability to convey what is going on with who men REALLY and what they REALLY want in a way that is easy for us to visualize and understand.
Tune in to hear about how to open a man and have him express his emotions (what?!), why a woman's radiance is like Oxygen to men, how to set boundaries with appreciation, and how to "speak the moment."
One of the great pieces Garrison offered is that when women are in transition in their lives (to a better job, making more money, getting fit, etc.) he would rather see the action than hear a lot about it. "Show me" he tells us. I loved that because that idea can be applied anywhere in our lives - and the message is clear - ladies - take the reigns, it is much more empowering for all of us!more.
Episode 71: Dr. Alex Benzer: Tao of Dating for Women
I love when men want to share their insights with us on how to be a Modern Goddess. This is a very touchy subject for me and I maybe you too, so I take care to pick authors and experts whose hearts I can feel while they are delivering their content to us. I like Dr. Alex Benzer, with a BA from Harvard and a MD from UC San Diego, he has probably spent more time getting an education than he has spent doing anything else so I really wanted to hear what he has to us.
What I get is this: The whole world is changing rapidly. With the economy the way it is, now more than ever we need to practice mental clarity and stay focused on what we want versus what we don't have or don't want. This skill completely translates into intimate relationships.
Dr. Alex talks to us about his new book, The Tao of Dating for Women, The Smart Woman's Guide to Embracing your Inner Goddess and Finding the Fulfillment you Deserve. We hear about "Bad Boys" and what we can expect from their behavior which might look like romance, spontaneity and love on the outside but could really be an indicator of serious trouble ahead.
We talk a lot about busting up fantasies about how life or our lovers should be. We discuss characteristics of the Modern Goddess and why men are aching for this type of woman in their lives. Of course it wouldn't be a complete show if we didn't talk about sex, so Dr. Alex tells us what men's secret fears about sex are, as well as the importance of our own sexual know how in the bedroom. Tune in and turn on your awareness!more.
Episode 70: Decker Cunov: Founder of Authentic World on Commitment, Porn and Tantra
In this interview, I delight in having Decker Cunov, founder of Authentic World, return to Just for Women to give us his deep insight into the world of men, as only a pioneer in the current "men's movement" can.
Decker offers us a peek into the psyche of how men think so we as women, can really start to understand the inner world of the masculine. We start with an inquiry into a series of questions aimed at answering questions such as: "What is going with men who...are afraid to commit, have an addiction to pornography" and so on.
Never one to beat around the bush, Decker shares with us that men (more so now than ever) need emotional support, trust, acknowledgment and appreciation in their lives from their women - especially if they are going through some kind of career or financial transition.
He makes clear the power we have as women to be a grounding, supportive force in our lives and in our relationships by offering our truth without judgment. He clues us in on the underpinnings of what is going on with men who have issues such as porn addiction, men racing to commit and men running from commitment.
His message is clear to women, to claim responsibility without blame and do the inner work we need to hold space for whatever comes up in our relationships - and in our lives as well. Tune in today and catch his juicy rift on the benefits of practicing Tantric breathing practices!more.
Episode 69: Reid Mihalko, Sex and Relationship Educator: Embrace Life (and your Neighbor)!
Reid Mihalko is one interesting man. Wow, I am so glad I got to interview such a dynamic and energetic Sex and Relationship coach in person! From moment one Reid's open hearted hello signals his approach to life - EMBRACE IT! Which also applies to his business - Cuddle Parties!
The creator of one of the fastest growing trends today, Cuddle Parties are sweeping the nation as people let down their guards and open to the power of a good old fashioned snuggle. A non-sexual approach to having people get to know one another, these parties are teaching people a lot more than how to hug.
Reid says people (especially women) learn to :
- communicate yes and NO
- the fine art of negotiation
- maintaining boundaries with love
And what is the one empowering idea Reid wants to leave women with?
"If it's a maybe - say no."
Tune in for the full story with this lively and informative interview with the nation's up and coming authority on Sex and Relationships, Reid Mihalko!
We talk about the fine art of negotiation - how to negotiate with men in relationships we are already in and how to negotiate with someone you are just meeting for the first time. Reid defines negotiation as co-creating the intention for the relationship that both partners bring to the table. He tells women to please take the lead in going for what you want - leave him notes, do what it takes so he can win - give him a road map! And don't be in relationship to heal men - move on!
Really, don't miss his insight on what is happening between men and women today and why we struggle to understand each other ~ especially how to communicate our wants, needs and desires to men: It's ok to be direct!more.

Episode 67: Alissa Kriteman, Host of Just for Women: 3 Powerful Keys to Making 2009 Outrageously Successful!
In this episode I take the liberty to share with you three very powerful keys that will support you in living a year filled with joy, success and abundance. These are keys that I adhere to, which serve me deeply, so I wanted to start 2009 by offering these jewels to you!
The first key is Meditation. I cover a few, basic types of meditation to show that the process need not be elaborate, yet it is important to start. I cover how to meditate (posture and breath) and why meditation can be an important part of your successful, abundant life. The next key to an outrageously successful year is to create a Visualization Board – now! The power of the visualization board is that it acts like the most powerful magnet you can imagine, drawing to you all the dreams, desires, goals and accomplishments you wish to experience in the year to come. I give a few real-life examples of the amazing power these Vision Boards (collages) can have in a person’s life – myself included!
I wrap up with some important points to remember about our needs.
