Betty Dodson, Ph.D.: Artist, Author, and Ph.D. Sexologist
Betty Dodson, artist, author, and Ph.D. sexologist first achieved recognition with her erotic art exhibitions. In the early seventies, Dodson left the art world to design and facilitate sexuality workshops for women. She self-published her groundbreaking book about the importance of selflove in ‘74 and it became a feminist classic. Over the next 20 years, Dodson ran sexuality workshops that showed countless women the beauty of their bodies and the different ways they could explore the varied experiences of orgasm. Her book, Sex for One: The Joy of Selfloving came out in ’87 to become a best seller. Dodson has produced four videos that document her innovative hands-on teaching methods, which include Viva La Vulva and Orgasmic Women: 13 self-loving divas. Her recent book, Orgasms for Two: the Joy of Partnersex was published in 2002. She maintains an active website www.bettydodson.com and has a private practice in New York City.
