Guest – Laura Allen


Laura Allen is a Bay Area educator and environmental activist focusing in the area of water conservation and greywater systems. She has a BA in Environmental Science from UC Berkeley, and a Masters in Education from the New College of California. She is a co-founder of The Greywater Guerrillas and co-editor of Dam Nation: Dispatches from the Water Underground (Soft Skull Press, 2007) and co-author of the Guerrilla Greywater Girls Guide to Water.  Her writings can be found in Urban Wilds: Gardeners' Stories of the Struggle for Land and Justice, Clamor, and Home Power magazine. Laura lives in the San Franciso Bay Area and is an active gardener, elementary school teacher and aspiring inventor. She teaches urban gardening, creek restoration and sustainable technologies. Favorite activities include smashing concrete, planting fruit trees, hanging out in wetlands, visiting people’s eco toilets, and drinking tea.
