Amy Marsh: Sexologist
Nectar & Flame Consulting & Asperger’s Intimacy Counseling & Education Project
Amy Marsh, DHS, ACS, CHt, boldly goes where few sexologists venture. From the sacred sexual traditions of ancient Hawai’i to the challenges faced in Asperger’s Syndrome relationships, Dr. Marsh delights in intellectual “edge play” while staying focused on the sexual health and well-being of her clients.
One of the few sex researchers in the world to delve into the mysteries of Objectum Sexuality (OS), Dr. Marsh appeared on Good Morning America in the story, “In Love with the Eiffel Tower,” featuring Erika La Tour Eiffel (April 8, 2009). This resulted in a controversial interview about Objectum Sexuality with Dom Giordano, a right wing radio host! Other media appearances include “Watch With Me - Couples Watching Porn” on Current.com
Based on her survey research into the sex lives of people with Asperger’s Syndrome (AS), Dr. Marsh has founded the Asperger’s Intimacy Counseling and Education Project, which offers low cost counseling and education to people with AS and their partners. She is developing a sociosexual curriculum for people with AS. She most recently presented on Asperger’s Syndrome and Sexuality at the Pacific Rim Conference on Disabilities (May 2009, Honolulu).
Because of her deep love of Hawaiian people and their culture, Dr. Marsh provides pro-bono counseling and hypnotherapy to Native Hawaiians, including mahuwahine (Native Hawaiian transgender women). Strong feelings of aloha ‘aina, combined with cultural research, help Marsh provide culturally appropriate kokua (care).
In 2006, Marsh established Nectar & Flame Consulting, her private counseling practice. She offers sexological counseling and education as well as hypnotherapy for a range of concerns.
Marsh holds a Doctor of Human Sexuality degree from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco, CA. She is a certified Hypnotherapist, a PREP® marriage and couples educator, and a tantra practitioner. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area in a non-traditional household that includes her two children.
