Jan Valentic is the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.  She oversees media, consumer insights and market research, advertising and content development, public relations, promotions and sponsorships, interactive and 1:1 marketing, in- store point of purchase signage and materials, merchandise, package design, and the consumer contact center.

Jan has been with Scotts for a little over 2 years and is dedicated to driving innovation and meaningful creativity into Scotts marketing.  Examples include the development and launch of the scotts.com website, executing a more diverse media mix to align with audience behavior, brand and consumer metrics scorecards, numerous ad spending tests, cause marketing initiatives, and brand integration in programming.

Prior to join Scotts, Jan led customer relationship marketing for four of Microsoft's seven business units (server and tools, gaming, MSN, and mobile) in 29 countries.

Jan's career also included being the VP of Global Marketing for Ford Motor Company and running numerous accounts at Leo Burnett Advertising.

Her undergraduate degree is in music – a clarinet performance major and she has a Masters of Business Administration.  Both diploma's are from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.

Jan is a true “gear head” and enjoys just about everything with an engine that goes fast.  She owns every book of poetry written by Mary Oliver and Billy Collins, and is known to read poetry to her team.  She's also into yoga, circuit training, playing from the men's tees in golf, and mountain biking.  She also loves to cook.
