Chris Kilham, Medicine Hunter

Chris Kilham is a medicine hunter, author and educator. The founder of Medicine Hunter Inc., he has conducted medicinal research in India, China, Siberia, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Vanuatu South Pacific, Lebanon, Syria, Ghana, Thailand, Malaysia, Austria, and the U.S.  

Kilham is Explorer in Residence at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he teaches ethnobotany and conducts botanical educational programs for the natural products trade and the media.  He leads research expeditions throughout the world, in affiliation with the Medicinal Plant Program of the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences.  The role of the Explorer in Residence is to advance knowledge in traditional plant medicine, and to create a bridge between the University’s Medicinal Plant program and other cultures.  The Explorer in Residence works to enhance the areas of plant medicine, environmental and cultural sustainability.  

Kilham is the author of thirteen books, including his latest, Hot Plants—Nature’s Proven Sex Boosters for Men and Women (St. Martin’s Press, September 2004). He writes articles on plant medicines for several publications, and was Prevention Magazine’s  “Herb Hunter.”  He has collaborated with Enzymatic Therapy to develop the new Hot Plants™ nutritional supplement line, which is now available in health food stores nationwide.

Kilham lectures extensively on holistic health and botanical medicines, throughout the United States and abroad. He held the diplomatic post of Honorary Consul to the United States for the Republic Of Vanuatu from 1997 through 2000. Kilham has been featured in numerous newspaper and magazine articles including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Parade, Boston Herald, Vogue, Natural Health and Men’s Health, and hosted his own health-oriented talk radio programs in the Boston area for five years.  An avid body surfer and adventure traveler, Chris lives and works in Massachusetts.
