Phil Stanley received a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship for his doctoral research analyzing the Tibetan Buddhist canon. He is currently transferring his Tibetan canonical database onto the web with Columbia University and the University of Virginia. He is co-director of Nitartha Institute which teaches the Kagyu scholastic tradition of Tibet. A member of the Nalanda Translation Committee, he has been a student of Trungpa, Rinpoche since 1974, and has taught Buddhism and Shambhala Training since 1981.
